The founding of Girls Group began with a single handwritten question pulled from a box and the difficult and honest discussion it prompted between a group of new mentors and middle school girls. After the session, Girls Group Founder, Sue Schooner, turned to the other mentors and asked, “How are we going to fix this?” They answered, “we’re not here to fix the problems. We’re here to provide a safe environment to talk about problems.” From there, the practice of weekly meetings to discuss difficult topics has continued and is still part of the essence of Girls Group today.
