Skyline High School 9th–12th grade participants celebrated Black History Month by researching and creating informational posters on historic Black American women. They chose from a diverse group of figures, including Amy Sherald, Angel Reese, Beyoncé, Harriet Tubman, Josephine Baker, and Nina Simone—learning about their contributions in art, music, activism, athletics, and beyond.
Each poster included key details such as name, time period, intersectional identity, achievements, lasting impact, and societal contributions. To wrap up, participants engaged in a gallery walk, taking time to reflect on and learn from each other’s research.
Through research and reflection, participants saw how the achievements of Black women continue to shape the world today—and how they can too.
