On Fridays this summer Girls Group participants met for the Mind, Body, and Soul weekly program. Throughout the summer, programs were focused on learning about the 8 dimensions of wellness, practicing skills in each dimension, and time to reflect on learning.
Some of the memorable activities included hiking, stretching, swimming, scavenger hunts, field day relays, and team building games. Participants often left programs feeling uplifted and ready to integrate new wellness practices into their daily life.
This prevention program also explored more serious topics such as domestic violence, drug and alcohol use, and mental health. Middle school participant O.S. was thankful to learn about healthy and unhealthy relationships. She shared that she doesn’t always have the words or knowledge to talk about issues like domestic violence and that discussions at Girls Group help her to be more aware and stay safe.
