Planned Giving
Keeping Girls Group in mind as you plan your will is a true expression of your commitment to our mission and the participants we serve. A bequest in your will paves the way to a lasting legacy that supports over 1,100 young women and their families in need. We invite you to join your community in establishing a planned gift to Girls Group.
Benefits of Planned Giving Include:
- Immediate income tax deduction
- Reduction of income, estate and capital gains taxes
- Increased financial security for you or your heirs while providing meaningful support to Girls Group
- Income for life paid to you and/or another beneficiary, such as your spouse or another family member
- Ability to provide for people or causes that are important to you
- Receive recognition for yourself or honor a loved one through a naming opportunity
Girls Group is surrounded by a trusted team of advisors, attorneys, and financial planners to help us talk to you about how you can leave a legacy of tremendous impact for our organization. Together we can continue to empower the next generation of leaders in perpetuity.
We will work with you, your attorney or your financial advisor to help you develop a gift arrangement that best meets both your philanthropic and financial goals. We welcome the opportunity to help you create your lasting legacy. If you have questions about planned giving, please contact Sarah Lesch at [email protected].
The process to leave a bequest is simple. A bequest can include cash, securities, stocks, real estate, and other properties, life insurance, IRAs. All of which may help reduce your family’s estate-tax burden.
There can be desirable tax advantages to giving securities. When you contribute securities that have increased in value, you can keep your cash for other uses and avoid the capital gains tax incurred when you sell appreciated assets. You also get a charitable tax deduction for the full market value of the asset, regardless of what you paid for it.
Charitable trusts are deferred gifts which provide an income stream for you for the term of the gift which is an immediate tax deduction in the year of the gift. These gifts can include: Charitable Remainder Trust, Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, Charitable Gift Annuity, or a Charitable Lead Trust.
Did you know that you can name Girls Group as a beneficiary of your IRA? This would allow you to preserve other assets in your estate that carry lower tax liabilities for your heirs.
You can easily name Girls Group as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy which offers tax deductions on the premiums that you pay.
Monthly Giving Program
Grand Circles of Giving is Girls Group’s recurring monthly giving program.
Members of this giving program receive added recognition by Girls Group along with the convenience of not having to think about their donation throughout the year.
For Girls Group, it is predictable income that allows for long range planning. This is vitally important because many Girls Group programs follow the school year calendar which often is organized months in advance of the beginning of the school year.
If you are interested in joining a unique group of individuals who believe education is the pathway to opportunity and self-reliance, please consider making a donation.
Stocks or Appreciated Securities
Making a stock gift is a tax-effective way to support a cause using your appreciated assets. In doing so, your gift qualifies for a tax deduction based on the full market value of the transferred stock. As an added bonus, if the stock has appreciated in value, this will also allow you to avoid the capital gains tax associated with the sale.
To make a gift of stock to Girls Group:
- NOTIFY GIRLS GROUP OF THE GIFT
- In order to track your gift as it is made and attribute it properly, Girls Group needs to be made aware that a stock transfer donation is on its way.
- Please email Sarah Lesch at [email protected] to initiate this process.
