Girls Group participants are intelligent, enthusiastic, and goal-oriented. However, due to negative messages often received and perceived from educators, peers, and society, they begin to believe that an academic orientation is not for them. Goals and aspirations they thought were barely possible become unreachable when facing daily direct and indirect obstacles to reaching their full potential. Our proactive approach to addressing systemic barriers is the key to empowering socially and economically disadvantaged participants to graduate from high school, pursue secondary education, find meaningful employment, and achieve economic self-sufficiency.
By changing the narrative we ensure all young women have not only the opportunity to graduate high school, but accomplish their most ambitious goals and change generational narratives.
